Biography of Hammer

Hammer has been involved in and contributing to the development of the art-form for 29 years, 1973 to present;

was first crowned 'Calypso Monarch' at the Cave hill Campus, UWI, Barbados, in 1973;

participated in the St. Kitts and Nevis Calypso Competition consistently, over the period 1975-1980;

placed 2nd Runner-Up in the Caribbean Monarch Competition, Antigua, in 1975;

was crowned 'Calypso Monarch', St. Kitts and Nevis, in1976 and again in 1979;

stopped competing in St. Kitts and Nevis in 1980, but continued in the Tents over the period 1981 -1995, before relocating to Guyana 1995 - 1999;

has been participating in and contributing to calypso development in St. Lucia from 2000 to present, as a member of both The Ambassadors' Calypso Tent and The St. Lucia Calypso Association;

in St. Kitts and Nevis, had such hits as 'Tribute to the Panman', 'Fire Burning We', 'Ah Getting Married', 'Raise De Steel', Pan Revival', and 'De Egyptian';

in St. Lucia has had such as 'De Meat', 'Take You Mouth out Me Business', and 'Panman Aimran'

and is totally committed to the advancement of the calypso as the soul and voice of the people, not only in St. Lucia, but also throughout the Caribbean Region.
