Biography of BachelorJason C. Joseph began taking a serious interest in music at the age of 14 when he received his first guitar from his father. He taught himself to play the guitar and soon after, the keyboard. He gained much of his early musical experience by providing accompaniment at church services, singing in the church choir and also giving solo performances - both vocal and instrumental. He was enrolled at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School at the age of ten, and with the absence of a Music programme then, he spent his time developing one of his other talents, namely drawing and painting. At 17, he got his first teaching job at the Rock Hall Senior Primary School, where he taught mainly English, Christian Education and more recently, Music. During his years at Rock Hall, he attended the Teacher's Division of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, and subsequently the St. Lucia School of Music where he studied voice and the teaching of music in schools. Bachelor's love for the stage also led him into theatre. He has played lead and supporting roles in several plays including "Hewanorra Story" and "Malfinis". He has also been very involved in School Calypso, and continues to write and arrange for several student calypsonians including "Nash" and the former, two-time Junior Monarch "Sargeant Hite". He is presently the Music teacher at the Babonneau Secondary School and also teaches part time at the St. Lucia School of Music. He is very much interested in choral work and currently works with a number of youth and church groups as well as the St. Lucia School of Music Community Choir. Bachelor has performed regionally and internationally and recently compiled most of his compositions on a CD entitled "A Sign of Things To Come".
